Anthony’s Daughter

Tony has a daughter with his wife Cynthia, who was born with a congenital disability called Periventricular Leukomalacia at 24 weeks caused by lack of oxygen to the brain. Their daughter Carena suffered neurological damage which caused cerebral palsy that severely impairs motor skills and delays normal development. Anthony realized that there was little research on infants born with PVLs a condition that would pose enormous challenges for their daughter. As such, they approached Texas Children’s Hospital to conduct research on the cause of the disorder, and he made huge donations to get the program running. In 2010, Dan and Jan Duncan Neurological Research Institute opened its doors to the study the condition. He hopes the research will provide breakthrough relief to parents undergoing the same ordeal as them so that children born with PLV can have a bright future. This humbling experience has made them appreciate the little milestones their daughter achieves and each day is a miracle for them. Anthony Pertrello continues to be resilient and ambitious in his leadership role, guiding Nabors Industries to maintain its competitive edge in the geothermal industry globally.
