Everywhere you look, you’ll see advertisements for attorneys. How are you supposed to know which lawyer best handles criminal matters? What if you’re trying to find a lawyer that specializes in child custody cases? Do you need a probate lawyer to assist with your last will and testament? Selecting legal counsel is a daunting task, but if you live in the state of New York, finding a qualified lawyer just got easier.
The New York State Bar Association, along with technology company Legal.io, is proud to announce that a Lawyer Referral and Information Service is now available Online.
When asked about the program, State Bar President Claire P. Gutekunst said “Individuals often need lawyers in times of stress. Our Lawyer Referral and Information Service is a lower pressure way to get legal help”.
Anyone seeking an attorney in New York can visit the website and fill out a questionnaire. The questionnaire is reviewed, and the applicant receives free referrals with no obligation to retain the lawyer.
