Andy Wirth, CEO and President of Squaw Valley Ski Holdings LLC, draws a breath of relief with the formal withdrawal of companies wishing to incorporate Olympic Valley. Wirth has faught against this plan every step of the way feeling that such an action would impose high taxes on the residents and businesses, and ultimately depleting the quality of services the people of Squaw Valley depend on.
Wirth truly believes that they avoided a financial disater with the withdrawal and now wishes that he and his company can focus on healing from the intense battle as well as his new project of building a gondola that will connect Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows.
Born in West Germany and holder of a Bachelor’s in Science from Colorado State University, Andy Wirth has spent much of his career working as an outdoors-man. His career began in 1986 when he was employed as an intern with Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation.
He found himself working in many varying forms of marketing at Steamboat for the next twenty years until he was promoted to Chief Marketing Officer with Intrawest, the parent company of Steamboat in 2006. Wirth continued his active status within the company, eventually founding the Mountain Village Partnership, a campaign that works to promote local businesses which is sponsered directly by Steamboat.
It wasn’t until 2010 that Andrew Wirth replaced Nancy Cushing as CEO of the Squaw Valley Ski Resort. Giving the resort a $70 million remodel, which included improved mountain design, renovations to the culinary facilities and lodging areas. Wirth’s focus was on making the Squaw Valley Ski Resort more customer friendly, focusing on improving overall customer experience.
Wirth not only spends his money improving his business, but he has various other notable accomplishments. Founding the group known as the Wounded Warrior Support, he raises money specifically in the hope of supporting the NAVY SEAL Foundation. This particular organization provides support to the specials operations members plus their families.
A man of many accomplishments, Andrew Wirth strives to continue making Squaw Valley Ski Resort the top vacation spot for his guests. With the impending gandola project and the stress of the Olympic Valley Incorporation project now off his shoulders Wirth can spend more time doing what he does best.
